Wedding Report - Part 2

MOH takes my bouquet and dad lifts my veil. I turn to face H2B and nearly burst into tears. I see the ushers all smiling at me and mouthing that I look beautiful.
The ushers sharing a joke
We begin the ceremony. It's so hot that I'm sweating and fidgeting. I don't know how we're going to get through the ceremony and I can't concentrate on what ths celebrant is saying. Just as the celebrant starts the next part, H2B interjects and asks for water and napkins. Just another reason why I love him.
Phew! That's a bit better!
We continue and the celebrant asks for the first reading but SIL2B doesn't have it (with everything I was sorting out, I forgot to confirm with her and she didn't mention it either!) we move on. MoH reads excerpts from I Like You by Sandol Stoddard Warburg. The three of us well up every time she looks at us.
MoH reading so beautifully

If I am a goofus on the roofus hollering my head off
You are one too
If I am getting ready to pop a paper bag,
then you are getting ready to jump

That's because you really like me
You really like me, don't you?
And I really like you back
And you like me back and I like you back
And that's the way we keep on going every day

If you go away or if I stay home, you send me a postcard
You don't just say "Well see you around sometime, bye"
I like you a lot because of that
And I like you because if we go away together
And if I get lost
Then you are the one that is yelling for me

And I like you because when I am feeling sad
You don't always cheer me up right away
Sometimes it is better to be sad
You want to think about things
It takes time
I like you because if I am mad at you
Then you are mad at me too
It's awful when the other person isn't

I like you because if I think I am going to throw up
then you are really sorry
You don't just pretend you are busy looking at the birdies and all that
You say, maybe it was something you ate
You say, the same thing happened to me one time
And the same thing did

If you find two four-leaf clovers, you give me one
If I find four, I give you two
If we only find three, we keep on looking
Sometimes we have good luck, and sometimes we don't

I like you because I don't know why but
Everything that happens is nicer with you
I can't remember when I didn't like you
It must have been lonesome then
I like you because because because
I forget why I like you but I do

So many reasons
On the 4th of July I like you because it's the 4th of July
On the fifth of July, I like you too
If we had some hats and some flags and some fire engines

See what I mean?
Even if it was the 999th of July
Even if it was August
Even if it was way down at the bottom of November
Even if it was no place particular in January
I would go on choosing you
And you would go on choosing me
Over and over again

That's how it would happen every time
I don't know why
I guess I don't know why I really like you
Why do I like you
I guess I just like you
I guess I just like you because I like you

We exchange vows and my voice breaks. I didn't realise it at the time, but I did cry a bit too.
Tears of joy
Exchanging Rings
BM K reads when Harry met Sally excerpt. More welling up ensues.
I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle in your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
You may kiss the bride
We sign the register and pose for pics.

We make our way to the tundra where guests pick up their escort cards.
My husband (!) and I continue to the patio where we have our drinks reception.
Togs take our group shots and Jon (band leader) plays some acoustic guitar. It is unbelievably warm but all seem in good spirits, drinking Pimms and Bucks Fizz. Here are a few of our beautiful pics...

Wedding Report - Part 1

So as fetti tradition dictates, I have written a looooong wedding report. I wrote most of the notes as we were on our honeymoon safari - which was immediately after the wedding. It was so nice remembering all the little moments, especially when we got back as our tog pics arrived whilst we were away :)
So grab a cuppa tea, glass of wine or whatever is your tipple, put your feet up and settle down for the long read... ready? OK, so I'll begin.

Friday 26th August 2011: T-7
My last day at work before the wedding. I decided to take the week before the wedding off work so I could do the last minute preparations. My lovely work colleagues gave me a card and Amazon vouchers. I was really touched, as I'm a contractor so don't expect things like that. I realised that we hadn't had our final meeting with the Celebrant before the wedding - should have been done a month beforehand. Luckily, I got an appointment for tomorrow morning. MIL2B lent us her car, which turned out to be REALLY helpful.
Earlier this week, my dress was sent to the dry cleaners for final alterations and cleaning, with my veil. Some how between the bridal shop and the dry cleaners, the veil is misplaced. I don't know how they managed to lose my veil since the shops are on opposite sides of the road! I called the dry cleaners but they still don't have my veil!

Saturday 27th August 2011: T-6
Up early to go to the Register Office. Went through our vow choices and readings with the celebrant. I was disappointed to learn that she wouldn't allow the Toastmaster to announce us prior to the ceremony :(
Call dress shop but manager isn't in and they don't know where my veil is. Getting rather worried. Despite this, I go to my parents and start getting the decorations together. Mum and I went to Hobbycraft in Romford to find envelopes for the escort cards and other bits and bobs. I found a tiny violet pail and some ivy for the wishing well. Mum was impressed with the Liberty centre. Found my evening wedding shoes and a few clothes for the honeymoon. Had to buy H2B some smart casual summer trousers as the restos at the hotel insist on trousers for the men and H2B only has winter trews. Saw some nice shoes in the sale to go with the trousers, but wasn't sure if H2B would like them, so didn't get them.
Had a nice evening out at our local - Red Mantra -  dancing to a live band. We had a brilliant time and a bloke congratulated me on my dancing style, which surprised me and annoyed H2B, as he thinks he's a better dancer ;)

Sunday 28th August 2011: T-5
Feeling a bit tired from having such a late night. Go back to Romford to buy shoes for H2B. He's very happy with them. PIL2B are back from their holiday in France, and since we missed FIL2B's birthday, we meet up with them at the Rose, then went to the Wood Oven for a yummy meal.

Monday 29th August 2011: T-4
Bank holiday doing very little, as had a bit too much wine last night and feeling a bit heavy headed today. BMan pops over with the bubble guns. They are brilliant :)

Tuesday 30th August 2011: T-3
First opportunity to go to dry cleaners. They have my veil! One less thing to worry about! MIL2B's birthday today, so we pop over to see her and go out for a lovely meal at Bel-Sit.
Jacek, our neighbour pops over with his gift to us - teeth whitening kits, which he'd fitted us for earlier last week. H2B uses his, but I decide to wait til tomorrow, as I have a dental hygienist appointment.
H2B getting his teeth mould done
Wednesday 31st August 2011: T-2
Early appointment with hygienist, which is a little painful as I'd had my appointment later than usual in the year. I drive over to my parents' house where BM L and baby Alex are waiting for me. BM L gets us organised and we start to put the favour boxes together, using washi tape, buttons and a bit of creativeness. MoB arrives from work and also helps out. We get the escort card envelopes labelled before BM L has to leave to pick up Thomas from nursery.
Aunties pop over to visit my uncle James who's arrived from Canada for the wedding. I spot that the labels on the envelopes have the menu selections and are wonky, so I reprint them and Aunties & mum help me re-do them and add washi tape. A slight bridezilla moment when I see that Aunties are leaving raggedly edges and incorrect angles. Feeling rather tired from all the running around.

Thursday 1st September 2011: T-1
Meet up with MoB to get our nails done. We're both wearing the wrong shoes, but luckily H2B is at home around the corner, so he pops over with flip flops so we don't smudge our nails.
Sparkly tootsies
BM E drops off the cake at the venue and the shortbread at my parents'. Mum wraps the shortbread individually and puts them in the boxes. We end up driving back and forth completing decorations and dropping off things to the venue.
H2B and I work through the final details with Matt, our event co-ordinator, whilst having a couple of drinks, til the early hours. I end up staying up later, munching on junk food and drinking beer :$

Friday 2nd September 2011: T
Shattered and tummy feels dodgy, partly from nerves and partly from last night's indulgences! Panic a little as I can't find my purse for the wedding. H2B finds it in my underwear drawer where I'd kept all my wedding stuff. Doh!
H2B heads over to his mum's to get ready with the groomsmen. MoH is late, making me fit to burst into tears. Can't have a ciggie as I have no lighter. The day looks amazingly good. Worried it'll be too warm.
We arrive at the hotel but the receptionist can't find my booking. So anxious that I can't eat. Me! Not eating! Finally get into room round midday. Mum makes me eat a roast beef roll. I start to get ready but I don't have a dressing gown. Mum zooms home to find one. MUA arrives so still haven't had my ciggie. Baby Alex gets lots of attention and tog arrives to start clicking away.

In the meantime, the groomsmen are getting ready at MIL2B's and have a drink at the Horse.
Motherly love

Handsome groomsmen and Georgie x
Registrars come in to interview me, which is pretty quick but I'm still not dressed, as MUA is taking far too long (am a bit annoyed as she said 2 hours would be enough time). I start to get flashing lights in front of my eyes and I feel wobbly. BM E calms me down and then all the BMs help me into my dress and jewellery.

I love this pic of my parents
Just as we leave the room, I hear my walking down the aisle music - Marry You by Bruno Mars on the radio. Finally ready at 3:35... the room is sweltering! The band strikes up an acoustic version of my song, which sounds amazing. As my dad walks me down the aisle I struggle to maintain my composure. Mostly I just see my gorgeous H2B looking extremely handsome in his kilt. I make it to the table with a massive smile on my face....

Had my first dress fitting and a hair & make-up trial. No pics of dress obviously, though the day of the trial, it was baking hot and I was melting in the dress. Not sure how I'll cope on the day! MOH took some pics at the hair and MU trial but not posting in case H2B sees.

However, I do have pics of the haircut he got on his stag do. When I first saw it, I was really unimpressed. I guess I can laugh about it now, but H2B's hair will be very short for the wedding now :(

Jewellery Mock-Ups

I've been thinking about what to wear instead of my watch. I have an obvious tanline, so have to wear something on my wrist. None of my watches are suitable - one is a day watch, one is a Swatch and the other is a dress watch, but not in my colour scheme.

I had a look for new watches, but don't really want to spend more money on something that I probably won't use again. I remembered that I'd bought a lot of red crystals so thought I'd mock up a bracelet. I also made a pair of earrings. They only took me a couple of hours, so quite pleased with the speediness :)

I'm not keen on the earrings at all, but I think that the bracelet might work. I think I'll add more to it....

Just finished, sitting on my board

More packages!

I've been rather quiet recently, as we haven't had anything new to report for a while. I've ordered a few things and this past week I have taken delivery of several packages. A bit lightweight on pics in this post, as either the item is a surprise, I've not had a chance to clicky or I've been asked not to post the pic.

The first package is from TipTopWeddingShop, which is a partial delivery with the lettering for the groomsmen's presents. I worked with H2B on getting the measurements correct and set to work with my iron. I do have a pic, but want to keep it as a surprise for the groomsmen. Unfortunately, I'm missing one usher, so will be placing another order once TipTop have sorted the missing item.
We had delivery of all but 1 of the BM dresses, which have now changed from the Dessy twist dress, to a nice frock from Next. No *real* pics, BMs have asked for me not to post any; but here is a pic from the website:

I had some sneakers customised, you may remember these from one of my earlier posts. I will be wearing them when my feet get too tired on the BIG day and the honeymoon :) No pic cos I haven't had a chance to take one!
My hair vine from Glitzy Secrets arrived :D No pic, as H2B wants it to be a surprise.... talking of H2B and surprises, he went with his BM to Highland Store to get fitted for his kilt :) I wanted to go, but he wants to surprise me with his outfit! H2B and I spent a couple of hours making some of the paper lantern decorations. I have a multiple paper cuts on my right finger :(
I ordered a couple of dresses from Limb Clothing, one of which I was planning to wear to my cousin David and Ellie's wedding. Sadly they don't fit :'( The hunt for a suitable wedding guest dress continues... which reminds me of the topic of suitable colours for guest outfits, which came up in conversation a while back on Fetti. Personally, I would not wear white to a wedding unless specifically asked by the bridal party. There are plenty of other colours to choose from. I think that a white background dress with coloured foreground and/or accessories is acceptable. As for our wedding, well I'm wearing an ivory dress AND a red dress, so that knocks out two colours, but still think that there's plenty of other colours my guests can wear :)

We paid off our honeymoon this month! Am so excited!

Today I bought H2B's wedding ring. Unfortunately, it's too small - I have been bugging him to get sized, but he's been rubbish. He tried on one of my chunky rings and said it fitted, so I bought his ring, based my ring's size. Don't know how he got my ring to fit him, as this one really didn't fit! Will have to take it back to the shop :(

Anyway, the final wedding thing for this week is that I've finally got round to ordering the Reception cards! They should be arriving in a couple of weeks :)

Construction of the paper variety

I've started to put my invitation packs together. When I was ordering the stationery, I felt it an unnecessary expense to order printed envelopes, but now that I'm having to write them all by hand, I'm wishing I'd at least got some labels! Though, now I remember the other reason for not ordering them is cos the RSVPs will go to me, my parents or my PIL2B, depending on who's doing the inviting.

I was going to make stationery wraps for the packs out of washi tape, but I think that's too fiddly and won't hold the packs that neatly together, since the fung bao and RSVPs dimensions are not in the same ratio as the invitation.

Since washi tape is essentially masking tape, the glue isn't super sticky, so I've just used the tape to hold all the inserts together. Here are a few pics:

Got some stamps today, but in relax mode, so will be doing the packs over the coming days :)

Darn Typo :(

The stationery arrived a couple of weeks ago. I was really happy about them until I found a typo on the RSVPs. See you if you can spot it:

If you haven't spotted it, the vegetarian starter should read "Blue Cheese & Red Onion Tartlet" not "Blue Cheese & Red Onion Tarlet".

H2B and FoB think it's not a big deal and that we should just use them. I'm not happy about it - I'm usually very good at spotting typos as (a small) part of my job! To replace the RSVPs would cost about £20 and at least two weeks lead time.

I've thought about this for the past couple of weeks and come to a very non-bridezilla decision: whilst it's a low cost to replace them, we're going to use them anyway, because:
  1. Typo is not essential info on the invitation; e.g. the date or location
  2. It is still understandable what the dish is
  3. The RSVP is the part that gets returned to us
  4. Twenty pounds can be used more usefully elsewhere
  5. The RSVP Date is Friday 29th July 2011 and that's already on the invitation and counting down!
So keep an eye out on your postbox peeps! x

Bridal Make-up Trials 2-4

I've done a couple of make-up trials in the past few weeks. Here are the results...

Trial 2
After the success of the first (extreme) trial, I decided to experiment with the make-up I already have.  For the Eurovision Party,  I used Urban Decay Sin primer on my right eye before applying Benefit eye shadow on both eyes. The thing I've noticed is that whilst make-up can look nice IRL, it can look v different when photographed. This make-up looks really pale in the photo, but looked quite bright IRL.

Trial 3
I had a mini-trial at MAC, but it was during the Carnaby Event, so it was super busy. I wasn't that keen on the first colours she chose - gold and peach. The second colourway was more brown and gold. Please excuse the quality, my mum is not very good with cameras ;)

Pic I took before dinner

Mum's aim is a bit off

Mum still can't hold the cam still

Mum had me laughing like a nutter just before the waiter came with our food
Pic I took after dinner
I bought some brushes, waterproof eyeliner (essential for those teary moments!) and the brown eyeshadow.

Trial 4
For this trial, I used my own make-up, including: Chanel foundation, Urban Decay primer & blusher, Dior bronzer, Anastasia brow powder, Givenchy mascara, MAC eyeliner. I need to work on the shadow shaping - I prefer the other looks, but I think that this way accentuates my eye shape.

Start of the day

End of the day
Even with the UD All nighter spray, the liner has started to show on my lower lids. May need to experiment further with liners.

I'm still loving the Laura Mercier colours, so may ask BM E to buy some for me when she's in NY - though she already has a long shopping list from me!

Delightful Packages

Have been quite busy ordering things online. Today, I had several deliveries :)

From Handy Hippo, I bought some crystals, pearls and findings and some more heart pegs. The pegs are for the placecards and the beads and crystals are to make another hair comb (and also general jewellery stuff).

I haven't decided on how I'll wear my hair, so I'm not sure what kind of hair decoration(s) to have. I'm making some options to play around with at the hair trial. Hence also buying this flower from eBay.

The washi tape I ordered from Happy Tape is just what I wanted.

In case you don't know what washi tape is, it is masking tape with Japanese paper prints.  Here are some lovely ideas from around the interwebs:

The hair flowers for the BMs also arrived today. I'm really happy with them. I wish I'd ordered a couple extra for me! Will be bringing them to tonight's Eurovision party, with the Dessy dress that arrived last week.

Last package - the RSVPs arrived. I'm V happy with them. No detail pic, as waiting for H2B to see them and for the invitations arrive.

I've moved a massive box of decorations and favours for the wedding to my parents - flat has been overrun with wedding paraphernalia - so this will give us our flat back!

I'm currently knitting a Chrysanthemum for my bouquet in 4-ply. I have been using DK mostly, but really liked this shade of purple. Yellow flower in book in the top RH corner of pic below is how it should look like when it's finished.

Still not sure what the bouquet will look like, but like the hair decorations, I need a few pieces to play around with. Was thinking I have time, but just realised it's 111 days til the wedding... that means less than 100 days to finish the bouquet! Eeeek!
