National Christmas Jumper Day

Tomorrow is National Christmas Jumper Day. I was working on a jumper for it, but unfortunately, I had to rip back over 7" of work, so it's not ready :( Here's how the front looks atm:

It's also my work Christmas do, so I painted my nails for the occasion. Should be fun! Got a bit of clean up to do on my left hand, but gotta pack my dress and things for tomorrow! :)

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Nail Art

Whew! Didn't think I'd finish this in time, but folks I did! I really struggled for inspiration, but luckily Alicia from FixinToFaff, helped me find some :) So here is my dedication to the fabulous Doctor.
(Apologies about the dry cuticles - this winter has been quite rough on my hands, despite wearing mittens, and moisturising.)

The polishes I used to create this mani
For some time I'd been looking for the perfect tardis colour. Several months ago I was flicking through my mum's Avon catalogue and found the Cosmic Blue shade.

The accent nail on my left hand is four layers of Oodiful by Nail Pattern Boldness, over Rejuvecote and topped with NPB's Glitter Food and good ol' Seche Vite.

For my right thumb, I used:
Base coat: Rejuvecote
Undie: Cafe Au Lait by Sally Hansen
Hair: Franken of Essie Little Brown Dress and Essie Merino Cool
3D glasses: Cult Nails Tempest, Barry M White Nail Art pen, Colour Cosmetic 1 (red) and 12 (blue)

For my right ring finger, I used Avon Cosmic Blue and Cult Nails Tempest, with Pretty and Polished Halo TC over the letters for a faint sparkle ;)

Really excited now!!!

Don't forget to check out the other Bloggers doing a Doctor Who mani!

Lent and massage

Just a quick post, having chatted with some of the Brit Bloggers, I decided to give up buying polish for lent. #gasp
Yesterday, I was in Tesco and by habit I went to the Rimmel stand and nearly bought a polish. I did stop myself, which is good, though it remains to be seen how long I will last, obviously I hope til 30th March.
I've been doing some massage work recently, which means no polish and stubbies. :-( luckily I've taken pics my manis from the past few weeks, so I'll be able to post some Pretties in the meantime.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday x

Gong Hei Fat Choi

Happy New Year my lovelies! This year is the year of the snake - mine and DH's year. Tonight I'll be going out for big meal with my family in our favourite local Chinese resto, Mandarin Palace. We usually order off menu and the owner is lovely lady.

So in honour of Chinese New Year, I painted my nails red with gold and black accents. These pics are the first ones I've posted, using my new light box set up. What do you think?

Base Coat: Duri Rejuvacote
Base Colour: Nails Inc Victoria and Albert
Gold Accent: Barry M Foil Effects 320
Left Ring Finger: OPI Liquid Sand The Impossible from the Mariah Carey Collection
Left Index Finger and Right Ring Finger: 2mm black rhinestones from Born Pretty
Top Coat: Seche Vite

rhinestones feel fun
I really like the texture of the rhinestones on my index finger :D

Unfortunately, the star on my left ring finger came off last night - not unusual with a matte finish polish. So I reapplied The Impossible, fishing out a couple of stars. Then I added a coat of Gelous, followed by OPI Man with the Golden Gun and Seche Vite. This smoothed out the sand effect of The Impossible, but see how pretty it is? And who doesn't like a bit of 18k gold on their finger? ;)
